O’SUN™, created at the start of 2011, is the result of an association of people with a wealth of varied experience who decided to devote their energy, networks and resources to designing a range of portable solar lighting systems and accessories, which can be used anywhere in the world. Their aim is to provide quality lighting, combining solidity and simplicity, for all those who are not yet connected to mains electricity and, thus, help populations in developing countries who are most affected by this shortcoming. One fifth of the world’s population lives without electricity. When the sun sets, their lives are plunged into darkness and they have to rely on candles and oil lamps. This form of lighting, powered by fuel, is dangerous, polluting and expensive, and the quality of light emitted is very mediocre. Kerosene is one of the most commonly used energy sources, and not only does it pollute the atmosphere, but also the people who are exposed to it.
Coast is part of the team for brand and packaging, but O’Sun is driven and devised by Xavier baudoux, and the lamp was conceived by Alain Gilles. A lot of great articles have already been published : Click here and Click here and Click here
The product made its introduction to Milan 2012 with a positive response from the public and the design scene. Our packaging design has already been selected to the National price of design "L’Observeur du design 13".
